Kelly Hildebrandt will marry Kelly Hildebrandt.
This isn't a joke. An engaged Florida couple has the same first and last name.
Here's how it all started: 20-year-old Kelly Hildebrandt decided to search Facebook for other people with her name. Up popped Kelly Hildebrandt of Lubbock, Texas. For the next three months the two exchanged e-mails and then started calling each other.
Then he decided to visit, and the couple soon began dating. Eight months after Kelly Hildebrandt sent her first e-mail, he proposed. The couple plans to marry in October.
It hasn't been all smooth sailing. A trip on a cruise ship almost got canceled when the travel agent deleted one ticket from the system, thinking someone had plugged in the same information twice.
Hmmmm..... I want to comment but I will refrain. :o)

What In The World?
People do weird things when it comes to children. Putting babies up for sale on eBay? Uh, pretty much everything B. Spears did with her kids?
So, here's a story you might find amusing.... I highlighted my favorite part.
Authorities say a grandmother was arrested for driving around the parking lot of a grocery store with her 3-year-old child sitting on the roof of the car.
Deputies were called to the Publix store Tuesday and arrested a 54-year-old woman after she was driving around with her three-year-old granddaughter on the roof of her car. The grandmother was released from jail 15 hours later.
The woman said Thursday she would never let anything hurt her granddaughter. She says she was driving at "snail-speed" and holding the child's leg. Authorities say the woman told police she was giving the child some air and letting her have fun.
She faces charges of child abuse. The child is back with her mother.

Seriously. What. In. The. World?
Sheriff: Woman Sat on Toilet for 2 Years
WICHITA, Kan. — Authorities are considering charges in the bizarre case of a woman who sat on her boyfriend's toilet for two years — so long that her body was stuck to the seat by the time the boyfriend finally called police.
Ness County Sheriff said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman's skin had grown around the seat. She initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital.
"We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital," the sheriff said. "The hospital removed it."
The sheriff said investigators planned to present their report Wednesday to the county attorney, who will determine whether any charges should be filed against the woman's 36-year-old boyfriend.
"She was not glued. She was not tied. She was just physically stuck by her body," he said. "It is hard to imagine. ... I still have a hard time imagining it myself."
He told investigators he brought his girlfriend food and water, and asked her every day to come out of the bathroom.
"And her reply would be, `Maybe tomorrow,'" Whipple said. "According to him, she did not want to leave the bathroom."
The boyfriend called police on Feb. 27 to report that "there was something wrong with his girlfriend," Whipple said, adding that he never explained why it took him two years to call.
Police found the clothed woman sitting on the toilet, her sweat pants down to her mid-thigh. She was "somewhat disoriented," and her legs looked like they had atrophied, Whipple said.
"She said that she didn't need any help, that she was OK and did not want to leave," he said. She was reported in fair condition at a hospital in Wichita, about 150 miles southeast of Ness City. Whipple said she has refused to cooperate with medical providers or law enforcement investigators.
Authorities said they did not know if she was mentally or physically disabled.
The case has been the buzz of Ness City, said James Ellis, a neighbor. "I don't think anybody can make any sense out of it," he said. Ellis said he had known the woman since she was a child but that he had not seen her for at least six years.
He said she had a tough childhood after her mother died at a young age and apparently was usually kept inside the house as she grew up. At one time the woman worked for a long-term care facility, he said, but he did not know what kind of work she did there.
"It really doesn't surprise me," Ellis said. "What surprises me is somebody wasn't called in a bit earlier."

WITW: Crazy, but Hilarious
WINONA, Minn. - A pet pig whose weight tripled while it was in the care of a sitter has been placed on a diet — and an animal cruelty charge has been filed against the caretaker.
Alaina made headlines last week after her owner complained that the pet sitter had allowed Alaina to go from her normal 50 pounds to 150 pounds in just nine months. The owner had left Alaina with the sitter, a co-worker, while she was on medical leave to recover from ankle surgery.
Alaina apparently had been foraging for cat food and chicken feed outdoors at the co-worker's farm.
A misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty has been filed against MB, 52, of Houston, Minn., Winona County Sheriff David Brand said. "I want her to be held responsible for what she did and what she didn't do," the pig's owner said.

WITW: Plan That Backfired
Man Sets Off His Own Booby Trap
LANSING, Mich. - A man tired of burglars nearly blew off his hand when bomb-like devices he set around his house exploded in his presence instead, authorities said.
V.I., 50, ran to a neighbor's house Thursday with a bloody towel wrapped around his right hand.
"Apparently, he was trying to set booby traps to get the next guy who tried to break in," fire Lt. M.M. said.
V.I. had been the victim of several break-ins, she said.
The neighbor said the explosives were "like a pipe bomb. He accidentally triggered it, and it almost blew his hand off."
Police were investigating with the intent to pursue charges.
"Anything that goes `bang' is illegal," police Lt. Bruce F. said. "I can't think of any (legal) reason why someone would be making a bomb."

For the record, protecting your house with any sort of artificial mechanical device that could kill someone is illegal. Trusting the Lord is a much better way to keep your family and (as this guy showed!) yourself safe.

WITW: Crazy Article Of The Week
Link hopping brought me to this particular article. I read it through twice and I'm still speechless. I know this stuff is mentioned in a "wink-wink" sort of way, but in this article, the method is embraced, nay taught!
Would someone actually follow this advice? I don't know, but I also never thought I'd see an article like this. No surprise the author is not listed.
I should keep looking. Maybe there's another article explaining how to cope when you realize he was never actually interested in you, but you beat him down in a weak moment.
Just in case it's not clear, I did NOT write this article, nor do I support its premises. In fact, I think this advice would probably do more harm than good.
***********************

Mom in Fake Retardation Case Gets Jail
TACOMA, Wash. - A woman who coached her children to fake mental retardation to collect disability benefits was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday.
Rosie Costello, 46, must also pay nearly $288,000 in restitution after pleading guilty in U.S. District Court to conspiracy to defraud the government and Social Security fraud. Last week, a judge sentenced her son, Pete Costello, to 13 months in prison.
The scheme was discovered after Pete Costello, now 28, was caught on surveillance video contesting a traffic ticket in a Vancouver, Wash., courtroom. Since he was 8, his mother had represented to state and federal officials that he was so severely retarded he could not perform simple tasks.
Earlier, she had used the same scheme with her daughter, Marie, beginning when the girl was 4. Investigators have been unable to find the daughter.
The sentence imposed was longer than the federal guideline.
U.S. District Judge Ronald B. Leighton called Costello a "habitual offender" who "asked her children to do despicable things," according to a statement from the U.S. attorney's office in Seattle.
"I'm sorry for what I did," Costello told the court. "I had a very hard life. I have grandchildren out there who need me. If I could, I would take it all back."

Florida Woman Dies After Camel Sits on Her
WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. - An owner of an exotic animal farm has died after being kicked and then sat on by a camel. Cathie A. and the 4-year-old camel were being filmed by a local television station on Sunday when the camel kicked her and then sat down during a break in filming.
The station was doing a story on Mini-Akers Exotic Animals, the 15-acre farm A. owned with her husband.
Cathie A's husband, Donnie A., said he would find a new home for Polo, the camel. He believes the 1,800-pound animal was agitated by mating season.
[Do men always blame PMS for everything?]
The couple bought the camel at an auction three weeks ago and kept him in a 50 foot by 80 foot pen.
"My wife did a lot of rescue," Donnie A. said. "She wouldn't let an animal suffer.
[Too bad the animal was willing to let her suffer.]
"We might not have food in the house, but she made sure they had something to eat."
A reporter called 9-1-1 when A. fell under the camel.
"To be honest with you, I don't think there's much that she could have done," said Gulf County Sheriff D.U.
A deputy and paramedics moved the camel and recovered Cathie A.'s body.
Donnie A said he believes his wife either suffocated or was crushed by the animal. The As started their exotic animal farm nearly 10 years ago.
[This story is just so bizarre. I know the Lord has all things in His hand and no one ever knows when or how they will die. But still, did she NEED to own a camel?]

Those Must Be Some Cats
New York couple hails cab for 2,400-mile trip Cabbie to turn off meter for $3,000 flat fee, plus expenses, for ride to Arizona.
NEW YORK - Betty and Bob M. have retired and are moving to Arizona, but like many New Yorkers they don’t drive, and they don’t want their cats to travel all that way in an airliner cargo hold. Their solution: “Hey, cabbie.”
They met taxi driver D.G. when they hailed his cab after a shopping trip several weeks ago. They got to talking about their upcoming move, and “we said ‘Do you want to come?”’ said Bob, 72, a former audio and video engineer for advertising agencies. “And he said ‘Sure.”’
It was initially a gag, but as they talked over the ensuing weeks it became reality. They plan to leave Tuesday on the 2,400-mile trip to Sedona, Ariz., with D.G. driving his yellow SUV cab 10 hours a day for a flat fee of $3,000, plus gas, meals and lodging.
They’re getting a break. The standard, metered fare would be about $5,000 — each way, according to the executive director of the Committee for Taxi Safety, a drivers’ group.
But city Taxi and Limousine Commission rules direct drivers and passengers to negotiate a flat fare for trips outside the city and a few suburban areas. It’s also a good deal for D.G. “This job is not easy, and I want to do something different,” said D.G., 45, who has been driving a taxi for two years. “I want to have some good memories.”
The Ms will ride in relaxed comfort in G’s sport utility vehicle while their cats ride in the back in their travel cases. A mover will haul their belongings.
“It’s a little unusual, but it will be fun,” said Betty, 71, a retired executive administrative assistant.
My definition of fun doesn't include paying $3,000 (plus expenses!) for a trip that could cost $500!

WITW: How They Met
LONDON - A British man has met and married a 22-year-old woman after, by his own account, dreaming of her phone number and then sending her a text message.
David Brown, 24, says he woke up one morning after a night out with friends with a telephone number constantly running through his head. He decided to contact it, sending a message saying "Did I meet you last night?."
Random recipient Michelle Kitson was confused and wary at first but decided to reply and the two began exchanging messages. Eventually they met and fell in love. "It was really weird but I was absolutely hooked," Kitson told the Daily Mail newspaper. "My mum and dad kept saying 'But he could be an axe murderer', but I knew there was something special about it."
After a long courtship, the oddly matched couple -- he's six foot seven inches tall and she's five foot four -- have just returned from their honeymoon in the Indian resort of Goa.
A love-struck Brown said: "I've no idea how I ended up with her number in my head -- it's only a few digits different from mine."

WITW: When Wives Have No Sense Of Humor
RIYADH - A Saudi man lost a bit of his nose in a joint assault by his two wives after he jokingly threatened to marry a third woman.
Judaie Ibn Salem had thought his threat would help resolve an argument over dividing up his house.
"I swore that I would do it because ... they were impolite (?!) and that's when I came under an even bigger attack," Ibn Salem told Shams newspaper after having seven stitches inserted.
"I never realized they would get so worked up. But the only way to restore my dignity is really to take a third wife. I don't know what I'm going to lose next if I do that."
Islamic law allows men to take up to four wives and polygamy is not unusual in the conservative kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam.

Corpse Groom
AHMEDABAD, India (Reuters) - An Indian woman, despairing over her lover's accidental death when he fell down a well soon after their engagement, insisted on ceremonially marrying his corpse just minutes before the cremation.
"It was for just few minutes the girl was dressed as a bride and then as a widow," K.M. Kapadia, a police officer in the town of Anand in western Gujarat state, said on Saturday.
Wedding attendees sat the corpse up by a fire, the traditional center of Hindu wedding ceremonies, and chanted some marriage prayers before cremating the body, police said.
"The girl refused to give away the body of her lover for the cremation till she tied the knot with him," Kapadia said.
Weird.

You Know This Had To Be On "WHAT IN THE WORLD?"
NASHVILLE, Tennesee
Wednesday, December 6
It may be one problem airline security officials never envisioned -- a passenger lighting matches in flight to mask odors from her flatulence.
The woman's actions resulted in an emergency landing on Monday in Nashville of an American Airlines flight bound for Dallas from Washington, D.C., said Lynne Lowrance, a spokeswoman for Nashville's airport.
Other passengers reported the odor of burned matches, but the woman was not forthcoming when asked about it, Lowrance said on Wednesday.
"Of course, she was scared and embarrassed but all the passengers had to disembark, all the luggage had to be searched, a canine team was brought in, and about three hours were consumed in sorting out the situation," she said.
The woman was not allowed back on the flight and barred from flying on American Airlines, Lowrance said.
"Since there was no malice involved and the incident was accidental, she was not charged with anything," she said.
Passengers are permitted four books of paper safety matches on a plane but cannot light them during flight, Lowrance said.
"I've had calls from people all over the country about this," she said. "And I don't have the answer to this problem."
Isn't "flatulence" a fun word?

It may be one problem airline security officials never envisioned -- a passenger lighting matches in flight to mask odors from her flatulence.

Ewwwwwwwwww!
Mouthful : Jackie _____, aka "The Texas Snakeman," holds in his mouth ten 2 ft. 6-inch-long western diamondback rattlesnakes for 12.5 seconds without any assistance to set a new Guinness World Record for Most Live Rattlesnakes Held In Mouth.

What a goal to attain to! I can't even believe there's an entry in the book for this. Just..... WHY?

PS: When I younger, I LOVED reading the Guinness Book of World Records.

"WHAT IN THE WORLD?" Saturday Edition
Man separates from wife — and his ring finger
Austrian doesn’t regret presenting digit to his ex-wife after divorce
VIENNA- A Viennese man cut off his ring finger and presented the digit, still holding his wedding band, to his ex-wife after an acrimonious divorce, Austrian news agency APA reported Tuesday.
Charged with dangerous harassment and assault for the act, he told a preliminary hearing he did not regret having cut off the finger and had chosen deliberately not to reattached it.
“It was an act of breaking free,” the man was quoted as saying. He did not miss his finger, could work well without it and did not plan on getting married again anyway, he said.

"WHAT IN THE WORLD?" Monday... on Thursday
SALT LAKE CITY -- The parents of a bride-to-be told their daughter they were taking her on a shopping trip, but then drove to Colorado and kept her there until she missed the nuptials, officials said.
[The parents] have been charged with second-degree felony kidnapping. Utah County Attorney Kay Bryson said Tuesday he met with the couple's daughter, Julianna, and her now-husband Perry Myers before charging the parents.
"I've never had a case quite like this," Bryson said. "It is strange that parents would go to that extent to keep an adult daughter from marrying the man that she had chosen to marry."
The couple, both students at Brigham Young University, were married in the temple on Aug. 8, three days after the planned wedding, Myers said.
"We were just glad about the way it ended. She came back and she was ok. We've moved forward since then," said Perry Meyers.
The Meyers are expecting their first child in May.
The Redds didn't want their daughter to get married, but the bride has been reluctant to say what happened on the drive. Myers said he and his wife were not discussing details of the car ride but said her parents' objections were not about him.
"It really has nothing to do a lot with me. It really is some issues with the family," he said. Julianna Meyers said she and her husband requested that officials move forward with the case against her parents. "I just want them to get help," she said.
Bryson said after reviewing the police investigation it was clear a crime was committed. Charges were filed Friday. [The parents] are scheduled to make an initial court appearance Oct. 26. If convicted, they could face one to 15 years in prison.
So, here are my questions:
- The parents object, but not about the groom? What else could be objectionable enough to kidnap your daughter?
- If your parents kidnap you, are you really going to press charges? I find "I just want them to get help" a bit dubious.
- Couldn't the bride just rent a car and drive home herself? I mean, if you're 21 and you can probably get away, is it technically kidnapping?
- Will the parents get convicted? And if so, what will their sentence be?
- Why is this story just now being reported? The couple ended up getting married August 8. (Congrats on the honeymoon baby, by the by.)
I'm a little perplexed by this whole story. Intrigued, but perplexed nonetheless.
