I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.
I ordered a burger at McDonalds and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"
CEOs are now playing miniature golf.
If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them.
Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.
McDonalds is now selling the quarter ouncer.
Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.
A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico.
Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.
The Mafia is laying off judges.
ExxonMobil laid off 25 congressmen.
Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh great! The guy who made $50 billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear.

Now These Are Just....
...... stunning. I'll take! Too bad I (a) don't have $895.00 to spend on *a* pair of shoes and (b) could never bring myself to spend that much for a pair of shoes. :)
But still, beautiful, no?

For Your Amusement
Just a few quick links for sites I've been introduced to. They're good for a little pick-me-up amusement during your day.
You remember those really bad family photos? Top these!
I know y'all must shop at Wal-Mart and have prollie seen a a few of these people there. So here is a collection of Wal-Mart weirdness.
Please keep in mind there may be things on each of these sites that may be offensive-- more than the site content, I mean. Thus, you are forewarned. :)

Gender Perspective
I was sitting in my car people-watching (as usual) when I saw a guy wearing skinny jeans. I am of the opinion that guys should never ever wear skinny jeans, but I understand that's a personal preference and not everyone feels that way.
That started me on a list of things guys, in general, should and shouldn't do. Which then led me to wonder if men's and women's answers would be the same. [See there usually is a sequential, logical pattern to my thoughts.]
So I propose to you, readers, this question:
What are the top five things guy should (or should not) do?
There are no real guidelines for your answers- just what comes to mind, but please answer honestly. I'm very curious to see if y'all's answers are similar and if gender affects the answers that much.
Promise me you won't let my answers sway you but here they are:
1. Guys should cut their hair.
2. Guys should be nice to their mamas.
3. Guys should shower.
4. Guys should be manly, but not arrogant.
5. Guys should not let women support them (barring spectacularly special circumstances).
If you want to answer anonymously, feel free, but please note your gender in your comment. Also, it doesn't have to be five answers. And don't worry guys, I plan to ask the same question about women, so you'll get a crack at that one, too.

So Pretty.... And Then...
I saw these shoes on a site and instantly thought they were aMAZing! Then I saw the black ones and couldn't decided which ones I like better.
Which do you like better?
Actually, I'd take them in both colors. Yes, please! Sooooooooo cute! But wait..........
I feel the need to either go throw up or rip my eyes out. Seriously, WHAT WOULD YOU WEAR THESE WITH? It confirms my suspicions that the worst of 80s fashions is back. ....... I have no other words. Too much!

It's Fair Time
Ah yes, it's that time of year where the kids go back to school, the air is crisp, and the fair comes to town. Did you know the official name of our local fair is (I am not making this up) The Great Frederick Fair? A bit pretitious I think. :)
Anyhoo, for some reason I'm on this kick where I want to enter something in TGFF (definitely not typing that whole thing out). I have never actually entered anything in TGFF but I have thought about it in years past. I still haven't decided for sure or what I would enter (most likely cookies or some sort of baked goods) but I think it would be fun. At the very least an experience.
I know my chilipepper friend has entered TGFF because I distinctly remember being with her when she found out she won a prize. She jumped up and down and squealed like a little girl. It was quite endearing and I still smile about it. Anyone else?
Maybe I'll be blogging about it a bit later.......

Attitude
"I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances."
I was going to tell you who said this, but why don't you guess? I'll add a hint tomorrow. :) She must have read the Bible.

Where Did The Summer Go?
I know at least some of you must be wondering the same thing. Seems like we were just making plans for a Memorial Day gathering and now today was Labor Day, the unofficial official end of summer. I was busy or traveling almost every weekend in August and already every weekend in September is planned. Wow!
Just a few blips....
Happy Birthday to my lovely friend Carrie! Carrie and I have known each other for .... wow, over ten years! We were born in the same year, but she always reminds me that I'm older than her by a few days. So, older I will always be.
Our mutual friend Elrj just had a little Pearl of her own. Congrats to E and J on their sweet new addition. Seems like I was just at their wedding.....
Sweet baby J celebrated his first birthday!! Here is a classic picture that I just couldn't resist sharing:
Clearly, he is not one for birthday hats.
I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow, but I should take comfort in the fact that it's a short week, right?
Happy Labor Day everyone!
