Everyone's A Commentator

What's great about a blog is that it's your own personal digital soapbox. But the true beauty of it is that people read it voluntarily. See, it's totally a win-win situation. I can write about whatever I want, but not force my opinions and rants on others. If they really don't care, they can just hit the magic "x". So, without delay, here are my random comments for the day (which you may or may not want to read, but hey, it's your choice!):

1. The 2006 Winter Olympics

I love the Olympics! It's that grand combination of sports and patriotism-- two things I love. This year, however, has been a disappointment for the USofA. Isn't it funny how we expect to be first in the medal count or at least in the number of golds? I think NBC put all their eggs in one basket with Michelle Kwan and Bode Miller. Since those two have been a complete bust, what is NBC to do? I wish they would have introduced us to other athletes. I counted 209 USA athletes on NBC's website. Did you have any idea there were that many? Okay, so maybe we don't get into curling or cross-country skiing, but I think it's unfortunate that the Olympic games seem to be driven by celebrity or what NBC thinks would increase television ratings. Maybe I just haven't watched enough? I'll be rooting for Sasha and Emily and Kimmie tonight! The picture to the left is of two little future Olympians- my nieces. :)

2. MARCH MADNESS, Baby!
I happen to love college basketball, especially the NCAA Tourney and all the glory of March Madness. My team, the Maryland Terps (2002 Winners of the Tourney) aren't doing well this year and weren't in the tournament last year. They are considered a "bubble team" but after their loss last night, it's looking slim. Even so, I will enjoy March Madness if only to root against Duke. Hey, if you understand the ACC and college basketball, you'll understand why I passionately hate the Duke Blue Devils. It's March Madness, baby! Woo Hoo!
3. The Doting Aunt
Yes, I readily admit that I do, indeed, have the sickness called "dotingauntwhospoilsbutloveshernieces". C'mon, look at that picture! Could you resist something so cute and fun? I promise to post more pictures and hey, don't forget, you can look at them voluntarily! :)
And finally, It's Incredible To Me...
... how much people swear. It really is amazing.
