So, I was driving and listening to the radio (silence is the car is not an option, you see) and heard a commercial for psychic readings. It's weird to me that you need to advertise for readings except... hm... maybe they already know that's where the customers come from so it's actually smart business.
Anyway, the more weird thing was that they were offering some sort of money back guarantee. I'm not making this up. They actually said, "If you don't get the best pyschic reading you've ever had, you'll get your money back."
What exactly is the standard? If you don't hear that you're going to be rich, find lasting love, travel to exoctic places, get every pair of shoes you always wanted, magically wake up beautiful one day, etc. then you can get your money back? Does they always tell everyone exactly what they want to hear? Aren't they painting themselves in a corner with a guarantee like that?
And how exactly do you compare pyschic readings? How do you know if it's the best if you've never had a reading before?
Just .... weird. And amusing.

I don't have to tell you, my faithful readers, that my blog has suffered mightily in the past few weeks. YOU know that.
There's this little matter of the Bar Examination. Yeah, that little thing. 18 hours of happy fun and games. Riiiiiiight.
Anyhoo, just wanted to let y'all know I haven't forgotten you and the blog will be resurrected very soon. I promise.
If you're reading this, you're definitely high on the list of Most Faithful (and coolest) Readers.
Talk more soon!

Heinous Comes In More Than One Color
Betsey J must have a split personality. Apparently when she designed these shoes, she was in her happy place.
Yikes! Let's hope she gets back to the happy place soon.
PS: Take a wild guess at which of these shoes is on clearance.
Along the way in the design process, she was forced into her scary place. I don't know if it was by a rebellious assistance, sniffing the fumes from some rancid pleather, a vicious pummeling by a rival designer, or a report from her accountant that her sales were plummeting (really, she shouldn't be surprised).
However she got there, out of her scary place came these shoes:

Random Shot
I took this shot when we were at the park one day. Not a fabulous picture, but I thought it was cool enough to share.

Give the Babysitter A Break
So, I stopped at the grocery store yesterday. On the way into the store, a man flew by me, racing his grocery cart with his little boy inside.
The grocery store was recently remodeled and they included one of those play places. The stressed moms (cuz let's face it, realistically, how many dads do the grocery shopping?) can drop off their little *ahem* angels while they get their shopping done.
So, I walk in near the racing dad and right away his son begs to go into the play place. The dad chuckles and says, "No way! Those people in there can't handle you. I wouldn't put that on them."
I almost laughed out loud. You know your kid is out of control if you must save the babysitters from him.

Party On
This is my favorite shot from my mom's birthday party. I think they were both looking at one of the girlies. Everyone just cracked up when they saw this picture.

Birthday Wishes
Many happy returns of the day to my very sweet mother!
My mom really is the best. She's loving and kind and gentle and wise and polite and fun and smart. And I think I just totally dug a grave for myself because my next thought was going to be "my mom and I are very different." :) Well, hopefully we're not THAT different.
I'm so blessed to have her as my mother. She's taught and given me so much.
A very happy birthday also goes out to Miss Rachy. June 8 is a popular day for birthdays!
Enjoy your day, ladies!

Apple Core Wars
This story has amused my family for quite some time, so I thought I'd share it with you. Quite a while ago (and I really do mean a loooooooong time), I was driving and eating an apple. Once I finished, I rolled down the window about four inches to throw the core out.
Apparently my aim is not as good as I think it is. I chucked the core toward the window and, um, yeah, instead of going out of the window nicely to biodegrade (?) on the side of the highway, it hit the [You know I sat here for five minutes trying to figure out what that thing is called so I'm just going to pick a word and you can look at the picture. I'm tired and I want to go to bed. :)] facing beside the window.
So, yes, it is funny that I can't throw a simple apple core out of the window. But the real humor was that I did not wash the apple guts off the facing for at least a year. Yes, I did say a year.
I took this picture so I could post it for you. And then I did it. I f.i.n.a.l.l.y. washed the leftover apple guts off the window facing.
I'm such a dork.
