Flashback: 18 Years Ago

Wow. I think I should have picked a different title-- already I'm depressed. 18 years ago?!?!

But hey! Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm going to enjoy it-- even if I'm getting uncomfortably close to 30. I'm hoping that, as time goes by, when I reach 40, it'll be the new 20! :)

So, anyway, I thought it would be fun to travel back in time for my most memorable (under 16) birthday party. Honestly, I don't remember having many typical kid birthday parties where you invite all your friends, have a theme, do something really cool, etc. Parties for kids these days seem like productions. But hey, I'm not going down the "In my day, we had to..." road. I'm not THAT old! :)

This was my 10th birthday party. I remember at the time thinking it was the best birthday EVER. We went to the local roller rink to go skating (no roller blades at that time- my word, I AM getting old!!). Let me tell you, I was rockin' those roller skates. Afterward, we came back to my house for cake and games and presents! I also remember thinking it was so cool to have the matching tableware set-- the tablecloth, the cups, the plates, etc. I'm not sure why that was such a big deal to me, but even now, I love a beautiful table. I also thought my cake with the blue icing flowers was awesome!

I look at all the girls in these pictures and remember being friends with all of them, but it's strange to think I am not in contact with any of them (with exception of one, but it's rare contact).


I just shake my head in disbelief that time passes so quickly. Ahh, to be young and cute again. :)
