Happy Memorial Day!
Both of my grandfathers served in the military during World War II. My paternal grandfather was capture twice, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. I tremendously respect the men and women in our military, past and present, who give (and gave) of themselves to secure our freedoms. If you ever get a chance to go to the World War II Memorial in Washington DC, I highly recommend it! I was able to go there for the first time with Friend X in February. It is a beautiful memorial and knowing both of my grandfathers served in WWII made it all the more special to me. I'm standing by this pillar because my paternal grandfather is from Michigan.
Happy Birthday!

My spunky, fun, smart, giving, and supportive grandmother is 81 today! She has done so much for me and I admire her for her desire to continue to learn new things, even at 81! Here is my mom and grandma, with the babies at Christmas. Isn't my grandma so pretty? I hope I look like her when I'm 81!!!!
Strangely enough, both of my grandmothers share a May 29 birthday. Nice and easy for my parents to remember, yeah? My Grandma Purks is in heaven now, but we are thinking of her today.

Ah, yes...the WWII Memorial...very nice...even if it was in the rain. It was a great trip (DC and all the sites and sights - nothing too hard on the eyes. :)...and can you believe how short the line was for the Washington Monument?) A trip I will remember for a VERY long time! Great times with you, Juls!
Great times indeed, my darling Friend X. Glad we could take the trip together.
