Someone gave me this quote long ago.
"Every generation must do its own seeking and its own finding. The fault of the fathers often is that they expect their finding to stand in place of their children's seeking. They expect the children to receive that which has satisfied the needs of their fathers upon their testimony; whereas rightly, their testimony is not grounds for their children's belief, only for their children's search. That search is faith in the bud."

Wow.
Can anyone say 'hit the nail on the head'???
I think that sometimes parents recognize the truth that their finding can't take the place of their children's seeking, but they don't go any further. A wise parent will use their testimony to create a need in their child's life...to almost force them to search it out for themselves.
And that's my wise parental advice coming from quite a single person. :o)
I think its rather true. The circumstances of life don't stay in a stasis mode where nothing ever changes. What one generation has sought and found, may fade away or simply relocate before the next generation begins to really look around. Thus, the answers of one generation are not the answers for the next. Those living in peace times find it difficult to understand those who have lived through war. I'm afraid our country is headed towards a war that can not be overlooked or ignored, but one they do not understand.
